Let the battle begin.
Hood Battles is separating the “hood frauds” from the “hood gods” and putting the grimiest lyricists out to the world. There are no pretenders and no bleep-outs on this show, just the rawest subject matter the streets have to report. And, since this is a true underground battle, it’s not just about mic skills. We want to know, do the contestants get down for their hood and does their hood get down for them? The emcees with the realest hood experiences will be the ones to tell the realest hood tales, and the judges can spot a fake.
Each week Hood Tales will pit eight rappers against each other to determine which artist moves on to the final rounds. An MMA fight styled introduction opens the show. Then after their introduction members of the judges will go over a few rules and introduce the first match up. The live DJ spins the record and the combatants compete and get judged in the style of BET’s 106th & Park Freestyle Fridays. From time to time a guest rapper will stop in to assist the judges in determining who’s got the goods and who got to go. The elimination portion delivers all the drama and tension of getting fired off NBC’s The Apprentice in an uncensored underground hip-hop genre for the world wide web. The winners will compete for the title of “Block Boss” and a digitally distributed Single Release Package for their single.
